Why Save Trails Authored by Others?

If you look around the AntStorm site, you'll likely find terrific trails about topics that interest you - trails that were created by another individual or group. You probably don't have time to join and participate in every group that has trails that interest you, and you don't even have that option when you find super trails authored by other individual users.

What you can do in these cases is to save these great trails to your AntStorm nest. This way, you can check back on them anytime from the AntStorm site, and you can also easily go to any of the links in these trails from the AntStorm toolbar. Any updates to these trails including new links added by the trail owner are automatically reflected in your nest and the toolbar, so you'll always have a current snapshot of each of the trails you save.

How To Save Useful Trails to Your Nest

Following are instructions on how to save trails authored by others to your nest:

  • First go to the View Trail page for the trail in which you are interested.
  • Look near the top of the page at the yellow box around the trail name and description. To the right of the trail name is a text link "Save Trail to My Nest".
  • Click this link. You will see a confirmation message displayed under the trail description that says "This trail has been saved to your MyNest page."

After You Save Trails Authored by Others to Your Nest

After you have saved others' trails to your nest, here are some other things you may want to do:

  • View Trails. Go to My Nest and click the Trails tab, and then click on a trail you have saved. A menu is displayed. Click the View menu command, and the trail page for this trail is displayed. Or click on any of the bookmark links in the right column for that trail to visit any link from My Nest. Note that you will not see Edit commands in the menus for the trail or the trail's links. You are not able to edit trails authored by someone else. Only the author of the trail may edit the trail.
  • Use the Trails from Your Toolbar. Click the AntStorm logo on the toolbar, and a menu will drop down from the toolbar. Click the Select Trail menu option. You should see all your trails and links - including those authored by others that you have saved. Click any bookmark link from a saved trail to visit that link.
