Why Organize Links into Trails and Trails into Folders?
Some common reasons to reorganize links, trails and folders include:
- You have imported your browser bookmarks into AntStorm. Your browser bookmarks were not well organized into folders, and you'd like to organize them better on AntStorm.
- The links you import from your browser, plus trails you co-author with groups, plus the trails you save by other authors or groups add up to a lot of trails in your nest. You want to organize them into folders that represent your major interests, making it easier to access and manage things.
How To Organize Links Into Trails
Following are instructions on how to organize links into trails:
- First go to My Nest by clicking the My Nest link in the upper right corner of any page on the site. If you do not see the My Nest link, then you need to sign in by clicking the Sign In link in the upper right corner of any page.
- Once you are in My Nest, click the Trails tab.
- On this page, click on the trail you want to work with in the Trails column. That trail's links are presented in the Links column on the right.
- Now click on the link you want to move into a different trail. Drag the link over to the Trails column and then up or down in the Trails column. When the link is positioned over a trail into which you can move the link, the trail will be highlighted in green. This green bar indicates the trail into which the link will be moved if you drop the link while the green highlight is displayed. If you drag the link near the top or bottom of the Trails column and hold it there, the column will scroll up or down to let you drag and drop the link into trails that were not previously visible.
- Drop the link when the trail into which you want to move the link is highlighted in green. The Links column is updated, and now displays the links in the trail into which the link was moved.
- Note that you cannot move a link into a trail that is owned by another user or by a group of which you are not a member.
- Repeat the drag and drop process on the links until you are satisfied with how your links and trails are organized.
How To Organize Trails Into Folders

- On this page, click on the trail you want to work with in the Trails column.
- Drag the trail over to the Folders column and then up or down in the Folders column. When the trail is positioned over a folder, the folder will be highlighted in green. This green highlight indicates the folder into which the trail will be moved if you drop the trail while the green highlight is displayed. If you drag the trail near the top or bottom of the Folders column and hold it there, the column will scroll up or down to let you drag and drop the link into folders that were not previously visible.
- Drop the trail when the folder into which you want to move the trail is highlighted in green. The Trails column is updated, and now displays the trails in the folder into which the trail was moved.
- Repeat the drag and drop process on the trails until you are satisfied with how your trails and folders are organized.
After You Organize Your Links, Trails and Folders
After you have re-order the links in your trail, here are some other things you may want to do:
- View Trails. Go to My Nest and click the Trails tab, and then click on a trail into which you have organized some links. A menu is displayed. Click the View menu command, and the trail page for this trail is displayed. This is how other users will see your trail with your links.
- Check Your Toolbar. Click the AntStorm logo on the toolbar, and a menu will drop down from the toolbar. Click the Select Trail menu option. You should see all your trails and links displayed in the menu, and you can see if they are organized in a way that makes them easy for you to access.
