How Do My Trails Produce Money For Charities?

Advertising on Trail Pages

AntStorm works with the Google ad network to place advertisements on the trail pages you create. These ads are targeted based on the textual annotations you write in the trail name and description, as well as the link names and descriptions. So your annotations of the trail and links are important both to help other users get the most out of your trail and to help better target ads. For example, if you create a trail about plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, other users would likely see ads on that trail page for the Toyota Prius and other hybrid vehicle related products, services and information.

Visitors to Your Trail Pages

AntStorm lets other AntStorm users search for and find and use all the trails that you author and that you publish for use by others. In addition, AntStorm works with Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and other major search engines so that users searching for information using those engines can find and use your AntStorm trails.

When other users find and view your trail page, they see both your trail and its links, and also the ads that are closely related to the topic of your trail. These users are typically engaged in the process of searching for information or products when they find your trail, so some of the ads that are displayed may be interesting to them. If any of those users click on an ad on your trail page, this generates a payment from the advertiser to AntStorm.

Advertising Revenue Sharing

AntStorm's vision is to change the world for the better - with your help and guidance. One key way we're doing this is to distribute 10% of all the advertising revenue that your trails generate to the charities that make our world a better place. And we let you choose which charities you want your trails to benefit.
