How Can I Add a Charity That Is Not Listed on the Site?

Return To Help Topic Index

AntStorm's list of charitable and exempt organizations is derived from the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) database of such organizations. The reason we chose to take this approach is that we believe it's critically important to avoid situations where individuals or organizations might set out to defraud AntStorm users by getting our users to distribute earnings to phantom organizations that are not legitimate charitable or exempt organizations. We believe the IRS and its processes and procedures will provide a far better filter against this kind of problem than AntStorm ever could.

The implication of this decision and approach is that any charitable organization you want to support through AntStorm must be registered as such with the IRS. If they are not, then there is currently no way to add them as a charitable organization on AntStorm. If you represent a charitable organization that you want to be listed on the AntStorm site, and if you believe you should be listed here but are not despite being recognized by the IRS as a legitimate exempt or charitable organization, please contact us as support@antstorm.com.

Also, keep in mind that while the source of our charity database comes from the IRS, many organizations in the database have a global and not a US-centric focus. So our users in any part of the world can contribute to organizations that deliver aid and help people throughout the world. We would like to figure out how we can safely add local charities from other countries to our service, while doing our best to avoid the potential for fraud. If you have ideas about how we can do this, please feel free to contact us by email at suggestions@antstorm.com.
